I'm not going to try to catch up!

I'm just going to jump right in here and start where I am instead of trying to bore everyone with details. Basically, we moved! :) We are now happily living in the desert and so far it is everything I dreamed of.

Dan is working. I can hear him talking on the phone. Nikki worked all day on her placement tests for Laurel Springs and is now playing her guitar. Tom and Jake are setting up Medieval warriors all over the living room and singing "Ultimate Showdown". I'm writing this while my cool new washer and dryer work overtime. MIL is in her room watching the news.

I love it out here!

Rainy Monday's Suck!

Especially when they should be bright and sunny so we can have our Valentine's Day party at our park day!! Two Monday's in a row it has been raining...only on Monday!

We went to the bowling alley instead this afternoon, but forgot it was a holiday, so it was crowded and expensive. We opted to play pool instead which was much more fun. Tom enjoyed the game. I bet when he gets more knowledge about angles and geometry he will be hard to beat. The game moved too slow for Jake so he shot hoops at another game and got a preztel and soda at the snack bar. Nikki was home since it was holiday and her friend was there so we didn't see her much. :)) But I had a good time playing with the boys and talking to my friend Susan!

The boys and I had a great discussion about truth, falsehood, and opinion this morning. I'm taking a class (high school level) with Connect the Thoughts and I share it with the boys. They enjoyed making up things and then figuring out how they could prove them. But, being boys, they came up with things like "My butt is hairy. That is a falsehood and I can prove it by showing you!"

The house is still in escrow and it does look very much like we will be moving in a few weeks. We aren't sure where just yet, but I am trusting that the Lord has something special in mind. I'm sure it will all be resolved by this weekend.

Other than that, I'm just cleaning and playing and wondering what to do next. Oh! I almost forgot! The boys usually watch cartoons or discovery channel, but last night they were watching "iCarly" on Nickelodian. It seemed funny. But the big word was "hobknocker", the boys have been saying it all day and thought it was great. On the show they whispered what it was and and the response was "That's gross! And illegal!" I look it up and it is pretty foul for a kids show. You look it up. I'm not repeating it. And when you do, make a comment as to whether I'm over-reacting or not. I usually don't care about profanity, etc. But this was a bit over the top, especially for a show aimed at kids 8 to 12 years old. You be the judge.

Another busy day!

This morning started with the appraiser, the buyer and his plumber and handyman arriving at 9:30. Our realtor was there as well. That was fun. The dogs were very confused about why we were letting these strangers all over our house. It went well and I'm confident about finalizing this sale.

The boys and I messed around all morning and then my friend Kelly came over with her kids. That is always fun. The kids were all over being crazy. I got pizza and Kelly showed up with chicken so we had plenty to eat! :)) Her husband came over to do our termite inspection later and then everyone went home.

Dan got the 914 running! Yay! Tom was so excited. He has never seen the thing running and he can't wait to go for a ride. We still have to get tags and insurance for it though. I wonder if the DMV will take an IOU from the state taxes!

Economics

Well, the boys might not pass a 3rd grade math test on times tables (I never did), but the understand basic economics better than your average middle school kid. We spent most of the day discussing what money is, supply and demand, and how the government creates money. What spurred this? Bacon. That really is where it started! I bought bacon at Stater Bros. yesterday and we had BLT's for lunch. Tom wanted bacon for breakfast this morning but I told him I only bought one because I wasn't at Costco. At Costco they sell them 4 at a time and it is cheaper. So we went into the why's of that. In the car on the way to Kung Fu, Tom asked "if the United States was ever the offender in a war". I asked if he meant did we attack other countries and he said yes. We went into whether it were right, what are the reasons, nuclear bombs, and went into oil. Yes we were talking about Iraq. And I didn't only give him my feelings on the subject. It was more like, some people think this, some people think that, some people are sure, it's complicated. The oil subject was cool because Tom swears he will come up with something better in his life. Then we talked more about how a company makes something and if one person buys it is expensive to make, but if a lot of people buy it then it becomes cheaper due to production costs being spread out. He wants to run a lemonade stand that sells cup of drink or gallons of drink and then see which one sells better. He has big plans that one.

Jake found a new role playing game online, much like Runescape except that is about building forts and protecting your land from invaders and stuff like that. He read all the tutorial and started work on it but got frustrated. I told him I would sit with him sometime tomorrow and help him. I can't stand those games, but he is so cute about them I just can't help but give into his cries for help.

The topic of economics and government went on at dinner with Dad as they both bounced off ideas and their own versions of our conversations. I swear it was like they were testing the information on Dad to see if the information I gave them was true. They had a mock bidding war for a video game to show one way something gets value.

And we topped the night off with a Twilight Zone we haven't seen. And that's a rarity!

Here I am!

I know it has been pretty sporadic for blog posts lately! Life is pretty hectic lately and the house stuff I feel like I should post much about it because I might jinx it. But I'll tell you what's up now! We had someone make a nice offer on our house. Cool! And we had a home inspector come and check things out for them yesterday. So now we are sitting here waiting for the list of things the buyers what us to fix before they do this deal. Yes, I'm worried! If all goes as planned we could be moving within the next 30 days. I can't believe it. We still don't know where we will be living and that has Dan on pins and needles. Ann will be moving along with us so we are still looking for a house to rent that will accomodate us all.

The boys have been loving Kung Fu. They earned their second stripe last week and were so impressive showing their moves. I love watching them. They are so serious. And they help each other practice. Too cute.

Nikki is still trying hard at this high school thing. It is just too overwhelming for her in class. Too many people talking, too many teachers to hear, and not enough respect for teenagers.

Dan is working hard. His job is good and stable and he isn't worrying about that right now. We would love to be saving more money but maybe that will come soon.

Hmm...let's see. That is about it for the list of what is what. Me? I'm taking care of everyone and keeping the house clean. Sometimes I even blog! I made cool Valentines for our homeschool party but it got rained out. Damn!

Home Husband and HOLY COW!

Now there's a title! We had our open house yesterday and the realtor said there were almost 30 people there. Yay! There is much interested in our cool house. We have seen four people come and look at the house other than the open house time. And it has only been on the market for 4 days. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this moving stuff may become a reality for us.

Dan, well, I have to admit I have an awesome husband and I just wanted to post about it. I have no idea how I landed such a catch, but I did and I'm not letting it go! :) No specifics, just generally awesome.

And HOLY COW!! My house is clean! Little did I know that with the right motivation, I can keep the house and yard clean with so little stress. I'm not obsessing about it or getting angry trying to keep it away from my family. I'm just running through after my shower, making beds, wiping down bathrooms, and dusting. The yard just needs a few minutes in the afternoon to be weeded and watered and it looks beautiful. Now if I can only keep this up when I'm not trying to impress anyone!

To finish our night, we went out to dinner with Grandma Shelly at The Rib Trader in Orange! While we went to bed, Tom asked me what a heart attack was so we had a long conversation about what your heart does and how it can fail. He saw a commercial for Plavix. Jake wanted to know what a communist was so we talked about that for about twenty minutes, ending with Jake telling me which countries he thought were communist.

Today, Jake is re-creating scenes from Swiss Family Robinson. That's the book were are reading at night. Talk about a vocabulary builder. Thank God we are reading it off of my new Kindle! I have many words to look up!
